The K 1 Fiancee Visa is a travel document that allows a foreign fiance of a U.S. citizen to enter the United States for the sole purpose of getting married.

There are two major steps to obtaining a K1 Visa for a fiance:

STEP 1:
The United States citizen (also known as the petitioner) must file a petition with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).

STEP 2:
The FOREIGN FIANCE must make a visa application at the U.S. embassy or consulate after the approval of the USCIS petition. Most cases which are denied occur in this step of the process.
